Fieldday Report 2025

This weekend it was time again – the annual Fieldday of OV N52 took place, as usually at the quarry in Röntorf. From Friday to Sunday we set up our tents, outdoor pavillions, campers and stations, stayed overnight, and of course spent plenty of time on the air.

One of the highlights was the great interest from fellow amateurs across OWL. We also welcomed visitors from other local clubs, especially OV Minden (N12), who brought along exciting experiments: full-duplex light communication at 650 nm and an ATV setup with self-built horn antenna systems for 23 cm and 13 cm.

Under a clear starry sky, we operated late into the night. A personal highlight was making contacts with Japan and Indonesia – always a thrill! At the same time, the international event “Lighthouses on the Air” was running, where we also logged many exciting QSOs.

The weather was mixed: Saturday morning was damp, but by evening it cleared up just in time for our traditional OV evening gathering. On Sunday, the hard core kept operating until noon, despite the rainy conditions.

In conclusion: a wonderful weekend full of radio activity, great company, and a touch of adventure. These are the moments that make amateur radio so special to me.
